2025 RoboPro Australia WRC Youth Drone Tournament – A Two-Day Celebration of Innovation and Talent

The 2025 RoboPro Australia WRC Youth Drone Tournament, held on 31 July 2025 at St Columba’s Catholic Primary School (South Metro) and 1 August 2025 at St Andrew’s Grammar (North Metro), concluded with resounding success, showcasing the incredible talent and creativity of young drone pilots from across Australia and beyond.
Over two days of intense competition, 46 primary school teams and 21 secondary school teams representing nearly 30 schools took to the skies.
Participants travelled from local Perth schools, regional Western Australia (Broome), interstate (Sydney), and internationally from Malaysia, making this year’s tournament one of the most diverse in its history.
Competition Highlights
The tournament featured thrilling rounds of drone challenges, from precision flying to teamwork-based missions. Competitors demonstrated exceptional skills in navigation, teamwork and problem-solving, impressing both judges and spectators.
Award Ceremony & Guest Speeches
The Award Ceremony, held on 2 August 2025 at Murdoch University, was a highlight of the event, honouring the achievements of the young competitors while celebrating the spirit of STEM education. The ceremony featured inspiring speeches from distinguished guests:
Hon. Dr Parwinder Kaur MLC, representing the Hon. Stephen Dawson MLC, Minister for Science and Innovation, applauded the students’ passion for technology and innovation.
Mr. Wang Fengzhong, Acting Consul General of the People’s Republic of China, commended the tournament’s role in fostering international youth cooperation and cultural exchange.
Mr. Hu Jinliang, CEO of Fly to Future (FTF) and representative of the World Robot Contest, encouraged students to embrace challenges and think creatively.
Professor Parisa Bahri, Pro Vice Chancellor of STEM at Murdoch University, shared her vision for supporting the next generation of STEM leaders.
