About RoboMaster

The RoboMaster program was founded by Da-Jiang Innovations (DJI) in 2013. It’s an international platform for robotic competitions and academic exchange specially designed for global technology enthusiasts.

At present, RoboMaster has three major competition series: the University Series for university students, the Youth Championship for K12 students, and the Open Tournament for the general public.

The First RoboMaster Drone Competition in Australia

The Drone Competition is one event of RoboMaster Youth Championship Series sponsored by DJI Education and AIZONE. It encourages young people to learn and use STEM knowledge, experience artificial intelligence (AI) and explore the principles of future technology operation.

This event will be held in four major states, NSW, VIC, QLD and WA. As Australia's first RoboMaster program, it will open a new chapter in drone, robot and AI competitions in Australia.


The competition will attract a large number of robots, drones and programming enthusiasts from primary and secondary schools, various organizations, education and training institutions across Australia.

In Perth, most participants come from local schools and lead by their science teachers for example Rivervale Primary School and Balga Senior High School.

Competition Rules Overview

This competition requires participants to apply mathematics and programming knowledge while independently completing flight missions according to the racing track information. The drones need to pass through different kinds of obstacles, or complete designated paths such as tunnels. Participants are expected to write code to enable the drone to reach the endpoint as soon as possible.

Since 2015, the RoboMaster series of events have obtained more than 200 competition patents and attracted the participation of over 500 universities and 30,000 college students from more than 20 countries and regions around the world. So far, the event has been broadcast live in 47 countries and regions in multiple languages. It’s attracted 80 million webcast attention and accumulated 300 million exposures.

Starting from 2021, RoboMaster Youth Competitions will successively land in Australia and become an important part of global RoboMaster program. The program will not only test participants’ quick adaptability, problem detection and problem-solving skills, but also test participants’ teamwork and sense of responsibility.
